IT WAS ACCEPTED INTO HISTORIC OVERLAY IN THE LATE 1980S. THIS REQUEST WAS TO REPLACE ALL WINDOWS FROM DOUBLE HUNG WOODEN WINDOWS THAT WERE PAINTED DARK GREEN TO VINYL DOUBLE HUNG BASE

WINDOWS PAINTED BEIGE OF COURSE. THEY WANTED TO PAINT THE STOREFRONT AS WELL TO MATCH THE EXISTING STOREFRONT. THAT WAS A DARK KELLY GREEN.

THEY UTILIZED KELLY MORE HISTORIC LIFESTYLE OF THE WEST SELECTION.

WAS ONE OF THE NATION'S EARLIEST TRANSCONTINENTAL HIGHWAYS.

THE BEGINNINGS CAN BE TRACED BACK TO 1916. WHEN THE BANKHEAD HIGHWAY ASSOCIATION WAS ORGANIZED TO MOTORBOAT THE HIGHWAY DEVELOPMENT.

THEY WERE ABLE TO EXTEND FROM WASHINGTON D.C. TO SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA.

IT'S PATH CROSSED APPROXIMATELY 858 MILES OF TEXAS PASSING THROUGH TEXARKANA, MOUNT VERNON, DALLAS-FORT WORTH, ABILENE, MIDLAND, VANHORN AND EL PASO.

IT'S ROUGHLY FOLLOWED BY YUMA 67 AND US 80 RIGHT NOW. IT WAS LISTED OR IS LISTED IN THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSIONS UNDER HISTORIC TEXAS HIGHWAYS AS A HIGHWAY MARKER. THAT'S WHY WE WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION IT WAS PART OF THE BANKHEAD HIGHWAY. FURTHER EVALUATION WE SAW THAT THIS IS A LITTLE BIT OFF.

THE BANKHEAD HIGHWAY GOES THROUGH SOUTH FIRST AND NOT THROUGH NORTH FIRST.
