FIRST ITEM IS CA-2022-01. THAT IS LOCATED AT 802 MEANDER STREET. THEY ARE REQUESTING A CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR REPAIRS TO THE EXISTING RESIDENCE AND THE DETACHED GARAGE.

THE PROPERTY IS CURRENTLY RESIDENTIAL SINGLE-FAMILY ZONING WITH THE HISTORIC OVERLAY DISTRICT.

THIS HISTORIC OVERLAY DESIGNATION WAS APPROVED IN MAY 2011. YOU MAY KNOW THIS AS THE COLLINS ST. JOHN GIVENS HOUSE. A ONE-AND-A-HALF-STORY DOMESTIC BUILDING AND IN THE CRAFTSMAN BUNGALOW STYLE CONDUCTED IN 1 1921. A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF CRAFTSMAN ARCHITECTURE AND INCLUDE WOOD, STONE, STUCCO SIDING.

IT DOES HAVE THE LOW-PITCHED GABLED ROOF.

AND THE STRUCTURAL SYSTEM IS FRAME.

IT IS CURRENTLY LISTED IN THE CITY OF ABILENE HISTORIC DATABASE, ABILENE OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES AND A SALES NATIONAL REGISTER DISTRICT HOME AND ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. THE APPLICANT IS REQUESTING A CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS, AND THEY PROPOSE TO DO THE FOLLOWING: THEY WOULD LIKE TO REPAINT THE HOME AND THE GARAGE WITH SLIGHT REPAIR TO THE WOODEN SIDING, WHERE APPLICABLE, BECAUSE THE WOODEN SIDING HAS SUFFERED FROM WATER DAMAGE.

THE PRIMARY PAINT COLOR WILL BE ANTIQUE WHITE THAT I WILL SHOW NEW A SLIDE LATER. WE HAVE SWATCHES SO YOU SEE THE COLORS. BEFORE WE GET TO THAT, WE WILL LOOK AT THE LOCATION MAP TO SEE EXACTLY WHERE THIS HOME IS POSITIONED. IT IS BOUNDED BY SOUTH 8TH STREET A AMARILLO STREET AND IDLEWILD STREET.

HOME. ORIGINALLY THEY DID ASK TO REPLACE THE FENCE AT THE FRONT. BUT SINCE THE APPLICATION, THEY DECIDED TO SIMPLY JUST REPAINT. SO THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THAT FRONT FENCE. NOW THAT IS TO SHOW SOME OF THE SIDING AND, OF COURSE, YOU SEE THE DAMAGE IN THE GARAGE.

HERE ARE OUR COLOR SWATCHES FOR THE PAINT.

THE PRIMARY PAINT WILL BE THE ANTIQUE WHITE.

IF YOU CAN SEE THAT ONE IN THE MIDDLE.

THE TRIM PAINT COLOR WILL BE THE SNOW GLOBE.

THAT IS THE ONE TO THE RIGHT. AND THE ONE YOU ARE LOOKING AT WHEN YOU SEE THAT BROWN, THEY WANT TO REPLACE THAT COLOR ON THE PORCH. THE PORCH IS CURRENT LET RED AND THEY INTEND TO PAINT IT BROWN. LET'S GO BACK.

UP. TAKE A LOOK AT THE FRONT OF THE PROPERTY. OKAY.

SOME PIECES OF THE WOOD FOR THE FRONT AND THE BACK PORCHES WILL BE REPLACED BUT NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE THAT WOULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THE EXTERIOR. THEY ARE LOOKING TO REPLACE A CRACKED GLASS PANE. GUTTERS WILL BE PLACED IN TWO SHORT AREAS WHERE THE EAVES RUN OFF THIS CAUSED SOME OF THE WATER DAMAGE TO THE WOODEN SIDING.

IT ACTUALLY LED TO WOOD ROT. SO THAT IS WHY THEY ARE REQUESTING THIS. A SMALL PICKET FENCE IN THE FRONT YARD IS ROTTING, BUT, AGAIN, THEY ARE CHOOSING TO SIMPLY REPAINT. THEY ARE HOPING THAT THE PAINT WILL GIVE US THAT SEAL FOR PROTECTION.

THE SECTION OF THE CITY OF ABILENE LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE THAT APPLIES TO THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS REQUEST IS SECTION 2.3.4.4 F, THAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS. STAFF HAS TAKEN A LOOK AT THE SECRETARY OF INTERIOR STANDARDS FOR THE REHABILITATION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS. WE DO RECOGNIZE THE HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROPERTY WITH IT BEING IN THOSE DISTRICTS AND IN THE REGISTERS. THEREFORE, WE DO RECOMMEND APPROVAL.
