I JUST BECAME AWARE OF THE BOOK ISSUE LAST NIGHT AND THEY ASKED ME TO SPEAK A LITTLE BIT ON IT. I TEACH A CLASS AUDIO] IT ALL BEGAN WITH JUST BEING EXPOSED TO PLAYBOY MAGAZINE AT THE AGE OF 10. MOST OF THE MEN THAT COME TO MY CLASS HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO PORNOGRAPHY BETWEEN 8 AND 10 YEARS OLD. I REALLY -- THIS ISSUE -- I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS ISSUE IS EVEN BEING DISCUSSED.

CHILDREN ARE EXPOSED TO STUFF LIKE THIS IN WAYS THAT THEY HAVE NO WAYS OF DEFENDING THEMSELVES AND UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS GOING ON. PORNOGRAPHY IS -- I APOLOGIZE.

IT'S ABOUT HOW THEY LEARN TO MEDICATE THE PAIN THAT THEY'RE STRUGGLING WITH WHETHER IT'S PEER PRESSURE, REJECTION, THERE'S MANY DIFFERENT ISSUES THAT CAUSE THE PAIN IN OUR LIVES AND AT THAT AGE WHEN WE FIND SOMETHING THAT CAN REMOVE THAT PAIN, IT'S VERY EASILY, ESPECIALLY WITH PORNOGRAPHY, TO USE THAT AS A CRUTCH TO GET RID OF THAT PAIN.

DOCTORS HAVE PROVEN THAT PORNOGRAPHY WITH BRAIN SCANS THAT THE PORNOGRAPHY AFFECTS YOUR BRAIN THE SAME WAY THAT COCAINE DOES.

IT -- THERE'S ELECTRICAL UM PULSES IN YOUR BRAIN AND WHEN YOU PUT OUT THAT IMPULSE LOOKING AT PORNOGRAPHY REPEATEDLY, IT CREATES A RUT THAT'S KIND OF LIKE I DON'T KNOW IF Y'ALL DRIVE THE PICKUP TRUCK THROUGH THE PASTURE BUT IF YOU GOT BIG RUTS THERE AND YOU TRY TO GET OUT OF THAT RUT IT'S DIFFICULT.

RECENTLY A PART SHOWED ME A BOOK IN THE LIBRARY I'M NOT TRYING TO PUT DOWN THE LIBRARY. I LOVE THE LIBRARY.

BUT THEY FOUND THIS BOOK WITH SEXUAL EXPLICIT PICTURES JUST LYING OUT FOR THE PUBLIC AND WHEN I SAW IT, I WAS SHOCKED.

I WAS EMBARRASSED. I CAN UNDERSTAND THE OUTRAGE.

IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT THE INNOCENCE OF THEIR CHILDREN. THEY ARE TO ENSURE THAT THE CHILDREN ARE NOT EXPOSED TO THIS KIND OF MATERIAL IN OUR LIBRARY.

THEY BELIEVE THERE MUST BE A WAY TO ESTABLISH A SYSTEM THAT WILL ENSURE CHILDREN WILL BE PROTECTED AND NOT HAVE THESE ENCOUNTERS. THESE EXPULSIONS COULD HAVE FEAR CONSEQUENCES DOWN THE LINE SUCH AS SEXUAL ADDICTIONS, ANXIETY, MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, AND UNHEALTHY SEXUAL BEHAVIORS, DECREASED ACADEMIC PERFORMANCES, AND EVEN WORSE.

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY TO PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN.

NOT ONLY THEIR CHILDREN BUT ALL THE CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY.

THEY WANT TO CONTINUE TAKING THEIR CHILDREN TO THE LIBRARY BUT THEY WANT THEM TO BE SAFE AND NOT HAVE THEIR INNOCENCE TAKEN AWAY. WE MUST DO EVERYTHING TO PROTECT THE MINDS OF OUR CHILDREN. NONE OF THEM SHOULD HAVE POISONOUS SEEDS IMPLANTED IN THEIR MIND NOT ONE OF THEM.

AND WE SHOULD ALL BE OUTRAGED. EVEN TO THINK THAT THESE INNOCENT CHILDREN ARE BEING EXPOSED TO MATERIAL THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO AND IT'S NOT HEALTHY FOR THEM.

FOR INSTANCE, IF I WERE TO DRIVE FROM THAT APARTMENT COMPLEX TO THE MALL TODAY I WOULD BACKTRACK THROUGH PEPPER MILL, INS BROOKE, WHICH I AMNY ROCK THROUGH THAT WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS WILL INCREASE TRAFFIC IN THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD MAKING IT UNSAFE.

THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE CITY SHOULD ALLOW THIS MULTIFAMILY UNIT. IT IS UNSAFE FOR OUR NEIGHBORHOODS, DOES NOT MEET THE NATURAL PROGRESSION, AND JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. THANK YOU.

HOWEVER, HAD I KNOWN A MONTH LATER THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF AN APARTMENT COMPLEX BEING BUILT RIGHT NEXT TO ME OR ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED MY HOME. WHAT ATTRACTED ME TO THIS AREA WAS THE NICE, CLEAN, QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD WITH MAN CURED YARDS, LOW TRAFFIC, LACK OF LITTER, LACK OF TRASH, FEELING SAFE, SECURE, THE OVERSIGHT OF AN HOA OF WHICH WE PAY DUES.

WE ALL KNOW THAT APARTMENT STAFF ARE NOT ABLE TO OVERSEE OR POLICE ALL THAT GOES ON 24 HOURS A DAY IN A MULTIFAMILY APARTMENT COMPLEX. THE APARTMENT COMPLEXES BEGIN TO DETERIORATE QUICKLY. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME.

WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT, LIKE, BASEBALL FIELDS IN ABILENE YOU COULD PROBABLY LIST IN YOUR HEAD IF YOU THINK OF WHERE A KID CAN GO PLAY BASKETBALL, YOU CAN PROBABLY THINK OF SOME BUT WHEN YOU THINK OF SOCCER, IT'S LIKE OH, WHERE DO KIDS PLAY SOCCER AND IT'S HARD TO THINK OF OH YEAH THOSE ARE OUR SOCCER FIELDS AND IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS WHERE PEOPLE CAN HAVE SOCCER CAN HAVE ACCESS TO THIS. I HAVE SIX KIDS WHO HAVE PLAYED SOCCER FOR THE YEARS. I HAVE FOUR CURRENTLY PLAYING.

THEY PLAY ALL ON DIFFERENT TEAMS WITH DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS.
