THIS IS CALLED EMPLOYEE EMPLOYEE SCREENING, WHERE THEY ARE SCREENING EMPLOYEES WHO ARE WALKING OUT THE DOORS INTO THE SECURITY AREAS OF THE AIRPORT AND THEN HAVING TO CONDUCT SCREENING OPERATIONS THEMSELVES.

THE AIRPORTS ARE THAT IS JUST TOTALLY WRONG.

AND IT IS NOT AN AIRPORTS FUNCTION TO DO THAT.

BUT TSA IS FORCED OUT ON THOSE LARGER AIRPORTS.

THE CATEGORY OF AIRPORT THAT WE ARE IN IS NOT HAVING TO DO THAT YET, BUT WE'RE PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS VERY CLOSELY AND ALREADY A PART AS PART OF OUR INDUSTRY, VOCALIZING OUR OBJECTION TO THAT AS THAT TSA IS RESPONSIBILITY.

SO WE'LL KEEP YOU INFORMED ON THAT.

SO TERMINAL IMPROVEMENTS.

UNFORTUNATELY, Y'ALL DON'T GET TO GET THE BENEFIT OF SEEING THE IMPROVEMENTS AS AS THEY ARE MOVING ALONG.

THE PAINTERS ARE NOW OUT OF THE GATE AREA.

AND SO I'VE JUST GRABBED SOME PICTURES THAT WE HAD FROM OUR CONSTRUCTION REPORT MONDAY THAT SHOWS THE GATE AREA IN PARTICULAR AND THEN ALSO SOME OF THE WORK THAT'S JUST THAT HAS GOTTEN STARTED IN THE AROUND THE TERMINAL, THE SCREENING CHECKPOINT.

SO IT'S LOOKING GOOD THAT IMPROVEMENT IN THE GATE AREA IS NOTICEABLE.

IT DID BRIGHTEN IT UP IN THERE AND JUST.

MODERNIZE THE LOOK LIKE WE WERE GOING FOR.

I'M REALLY HAPPY ABOUT IT.

I THINK STAFF IS TOO.

IT'S NOT QUITE FINISHED OVER THERE, BUT SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETE IS FAIR TO SAY, FOR THAT PARTICULAR AREA.

NOW THEY'RE MOVING THROUGHOUT THE SECOND LEVEL RIGHT NOW, THE RESTROOM RENOVATIONS, I DIDN'T TAKE PICTURES OF THOSE THAT THEY'VE JUST PUT UP DRYWALL THIS WEEK IN THE BATHROOMS. SO THAT IS LOOKING BETTER AS WELL AND STARTING TO COME TOGETHER.

WE DID HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE WALL TILE THAT IN THE RESTROOMS THAT ARE BEHIND THE SINKS WHEN WE WHEN WE DESIGN THE PROJECT, INSPECT THE WALL TILE SPECIFIED THAT PARTICULAR TYPE OF WALL TILE.

IT WAS AMERICAN MADE SINCE THAT TIME.

IT IS NOW THAT MANUFACTURING HAS BEEN SHIPPED OVERSEAS.

SO WE'RE HAVING TO GET AN EXEMPTION FROM FAA FOR THE BUY AMERICA ACT SO THAT THAT IS IN PROCESS.

WE'RE WAITING ON THE LEGISLATURE TO GET DONE WITH THEIR WORK.

THE FUEL FARM RELOCATION.

ABILENE AERO IS GETTING REALLY CLOSE TO WANTING TO DO A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING ON THAT, SO.

WHEN THE GENERAL MANAGER, LYNN BEARD, GETS BACK FROM A TRIP, THEN I THINK WE'LL PROBABLY SEE THAT SCHEDULED IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

CAR RENTAL QUICK TURN FACILITY.

AGAIN, THAT IS ABOUT 60% DESIGNED.

AND WE'RE WAITING ON REALLY JUST SOME OTHER THINGS TO HAPPEN.

IT'S JUST WE HAVE OTHER PRIORITIES THAT WE'RE WORKING ON.

BUT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IS GET THE CONTRACT, NEW CONTRACTS WITH THE CAR RENTAL COMPANIES ESTABLISHED FIRST BEFORE WE PICK THAT BACK UP.

SO THAT WAY I'VE GOT ALL THREE COMPANIES THAT WILL BE ON THE AIRPORT PARTICIPATING IN THE DESIGN OF THIS.

RIGHT NOW WE HAVE TWO CAR RENTAL COMPANIES.

WE'VE GOT THAT VACANT THIRD COUNTER.

AND WE HAVE.

AT LEAST TWO, PROBABLY THREE COMPANIES THAT ARE INTERESTED IN THAT THIRD COUNTER HERTZ'S OLD COUNTER.

SO WE WILL BE BIDDING EVERYTHING OUT AGAIN AND COME BACK TO YOU FOR CONTRACT AWARDS, FOR LEASE AWARDS, BASICALLY.

LEASE AND OPERATING AGREEMENT AWARDS LATER THIS SUMMER.

AND THEN WE'LL BE ABLE TO PICK UP THE CAR RENTAL SERVICE FACILITY DESIGN AGAIN.

OUTSTANDING MAINTENANCE REPAIRS.

SO THE ONLY THING THAT WE'VE GOT RIGHT NOW THAT'S OUTSTANDING IS, AGAIN, THE INSIDE ESCALATORS.

THE DOWN ESCALATOR IS WORKING, BUT IT'S MAKING A LOUD NOISE.

WE WE'VE HAD IT DIAGNOSED BY ONE COMPANY.

WE HAVE ANOTHER COMPANY COMING IN.

AND HERE IN THE NEXT PROBABLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITH A TEAM, WE'VE ALREADY AUTHORIZED PAYMENT FOR THAT FOR THEM TO COME IN AND GIVE US A FULL DIAGNOSIS TO REPAIR BOTH THE UP AND THE DOWN ESCALATORS ON THE INSIDE.

AND WE'LL SEE WHAT THAT IS, WHAT THAT COMES OUT TO BE AND WHAT WE CAN AFFORD TO DO.

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING THAT NOISE EVEN IS? SO THE COMPANY THAT WE HAD LOOKED AT IT TOOK IT APART OR TOOK GOT INTO IT.

DFW SHUT DOWN.

WE ENDED UP WITH TEN AMERICAN AIRLINES AIRCRAFT DIVERTING TO US.

THREE OF THOSE.

FOUR OF THOSE.

ENDED UP TIMING OUT OVERNIGHT AND AIRPORT STAFF HAD TO SPEND THE NIGHT THERE.

ZACH SPENT THE NIGHT THERE AND KATE CAME IN AND.

TOOK CARE OF THOSE PASSENGERS THE WAY THAT WE DO.

SO WE HAD OVER 300 PASSENGERS SLEEPING IN THE TERMINAL THAT NIGHT.

AND BELIEVE ME, WE WERE CHARGING AMERICAN FOR EVERY DIME THAT WAS SPENT TO SUPPORT THAT, INCLUDING STAFF TIME.

SO KUDOS TO STAFF ZACH AND OUR MAINTENANCE WORKERS AND KATE.

WHO CAME IN THAT NIGHT TO HELP SET THAT, SET EVERYTHING UP FOR THE PASSENGERS AND MAKE THEM COMFORTABLE AND PROVIDE FOOD AND SUCH FOR THEM.

THEN THE NEXT DAY, WE HAD EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FROM THE CITY COME OUT AND HELP.

THEY DELIVERED PIZZAS OUT THERE.

THEY SENT OUT A MESSAGE TO VOA, WHICH IS A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION HERE IN TOWN, AND WE HAD CHURCHES AND INDIVIDUALS BRINGING SANDWICHES AND TACO BELL AND EVERYTHING ELSE OUT FOR THOSE PASSENGERS.

THEY JUST VOLUNTEERED TO DO THAT.

SO VERY, VERY PLEASED WITH THE TURNOUT FROM THE ABILENE COMMUNITY.

AS USUAL, VERY GENEROUS, VERY CARING AND SURPRISED THOSE PASSENGERS WHO WERE FROM SARASOTA, SAN DIEGO, FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS, AND.

SO ANYWAY, THEY WERE WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THAT WAS THE COMMUNITY RESPONDING TO THEM BEING THERE.

THEY WERE THEY WERE OVERWHELMED WITH IT SO MUCH.

APPRECIATE THE GENEROSITY OF OUR OUR COMMUNITY.

DON WERE A HOTEL IS NOT AN OPTION.

SOME DID GO TO HOTELS, BUT THE HOTELS WERE MAINLY FULL.

AMERICAN ONLY HAS CONTRACTS WITH A FEW HOTELS HERE IN TOWN, AND THEY DON'T CONSIDER GROUND TRANSPORTATION OR ANYTHING AS PART OF THAT CONTRACT.

SO IT WAS YOU KNOW, IT WAS IT BECAME A SITUATION WHERE IT WAS EVERY PASSENGER FOR THEMSELVES.

AND, YOU KNOW, BUT I MEAN, THAT IS THAT'S THE LARGEST AMOUNT WE'VE HAD IN THE TERMINAL SPENDING THE NIGHT IN YEARS AND YEARS.

SO AND WE DIDN'T HAVE COTS FOR EVERYBODY EITHER.

SO THERE WERE PROBABLY 200 PEOPLE THAT DID NOT HAVE A COT TO SLEEP ON.

ON THE FLOOR, SPACE OR CORNER OR WHATEVER.

BUT TO THEIR CREDIT, THE PASSENGERS WERE VERY GRACIOUS AND KNOWING THAT IN RECOGNIZING THAT STAFF WAS DOING EVERYTHING THEY POSSIBLY COULD.

MAKE THEM AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE AND THE BEST OUT OF THAT SITUATION.

I THINK THE LAST FLIGHT GOT OUT OF THERE AROUND 330 ON THE 21ST THAT AFTERNOON.

SO. OH.

WE THINK IT'S GOTTEN SOME ATTENTION FROM AMERICAN BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN SCRAMBLING TO FIND FIND OUT ABOUT WHAT OUR CAPABILITIES ARE.

LAST WEEK THEY WERE AND MAYBE TO REINFORCE THAT WE CAN'T HANDLE SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

AND THAT FUNDS CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS.

AND WHAT WE HAVE PROPOSED AN APPLICATION FOR IS THAT IT REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR EXPENSES FOR OUR LOCAL MATCH ON PROJECTS WE'VE ALREADY COMPLETED OR HAVE UNDERWAY RIGHT NOW.

SO OUR GRANT MATCH OF 10%, IT WOULD GO BACK AND REFUND THE CITY OR REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR WHAT WE'VE ALREADY SPENT ON THOSE PREVIOUS PROJECTS, AS WELL AS A COUPLE OF FUTURE PROJECTS, INCLUDING THE AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIREFIGHTING TRUCK THAT WE WILL PURCHASE LATER THIS YEAR.

SO IT IS SOMETHING WE EXPECT THAT FAA HAS ALREADY REVIEWED THE APPLICATION.
