THAT IS WHY I PUT THAT LINE REPRESENTING WHERE THE PROPERTY LINE MIGHT BE. IF IT WERE TO GET APPROVED FOR THE SPECIAL EXCEPTION HE WOULD STILL HAVE TO GO TO THE LAND OFFICE TO OBTAIN AN EXTENDED STREET USE PERMIT. I DID TALK TO THE APPLICANT ABOUT THAT. THIS IS THE PROPOSED SITE PLAN. HE IS PROPOSING A 24 BY 24 CARPORT. THE CARPORT WOULD BE ABOUT 6 FEET FROM THE CURB. WE SENT OUT NOTICES AND RECEIVED ONE OPPOSED AND ONE IN FAVOR. WE REVIEWED THIS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CODE AND THIS WOULD BE AN APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL EXCEPTION. IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE USES AND PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT OF THE AREA. IT IS A USE THAT WE TYPICALLY SEE IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS THAT IT DOES APPEAR THAT THE CARPORT WOULD BE IN LINE WITH THE ESTABLISHED NEIGHBORHOOD. THE OTHER PROPERTIES DO NOT HAVE ONE CURRENTLY THAT IS VISIBLE FROM THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY. THIS WILL NOT PLACE A BURDEN ON THE PUBLIC FACILITIES . THE INTENT OF THE /THE APPROVAL OF THE -- THE LAND DEVELOPMENT TEST OF THE PRINCIPAL STRUCTURES WHEN THEY ARE EXTENDED TOWARDS THE STREET. GRANTING -- FRONT YARD SETBACK IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS. >> NO. >> I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHY THE CARPORT NEEDS TO OVERHANG. WHY CAN IT NOT BE CLOSER TO THE RESIDENT STRUCTURE? SUSPECT HE IS REPOSING TO PUTTER OVER AN EXISTING SLAB THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY BUILT. THAT IS JUST WHERE THE SLAB HAPPENED TO BE AND THAT WAS DONE AT THE TIME THE HOUSE WAS BUILT OR AFTER WITHOUT ANY SETBACK REQUIREMENTS AS IT WAS GOING TO HAVE A STRUCTURE AND NOW HE HAS DECIDED TO PUT A PROPOSED CARPORT ON TOP OF IT.

HE POURED EXTRA COURT OVER THERE SO KIDS COULD HAVE A BASKETBALL COURT AND KEEP THEM OUT OF THE STREET. THEY ARE ALL GROWN NOW.

ME BEING IN THE INSURANCE BUSINESS, WE COULD NOT GET THINGS IN -- BUT THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO THE VEHICLES AND WE WERE JUST TALKING AND THOUGHT, WHY DON'T WE PUT A CARPORT OVER THE SLAB. I TALKED WITH MONTE CONRAD , THE CONTRACTOR AND THEN WE HAVE A SUBCONTRACTOR AND IT WOULD BE RECTANGULAR TUBING AND WE TALKED ABOUT LIFT AND ALL OF THAT KIND OF STUFF TO MAKE SURE WE GO 3 FEET DOWN IN THE GROUND WITH THE POLLS AND THEN WE WILL HAVE A METAL -- THREE FOOT HIGH ON ONE SIDE, THE SIDE WHERE THE STREET IS AND THEN THREE FOOT HIGH ON THE BACKSIDE. WHERE THOSE SHRUBS ARE. THEN THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR US TO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A DEAL ON THE BACKSIDE TO BRING IT UP TO THE ROOF. JUST A SMALL ENOUGH AREA TO HANG A TV. WE HAVE A PRETTY GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD AND OFTEN TIMES WE SIT OUTSIDE AND FELLOWSHIP AND WATCH A GAME OR SOMETHING BUT WHEN THE KIDS ARE HOME IT WOULD BE A PLACE THAT THEY CAN GET THEIR VEHICLES UNDERCOVER. AS ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS TOLD ME THEY SAID I AM ALREADY OUT SOME MONEY BUT HE SAID HE WILL LET ME PARK UNDER THEIR. ANYHOW, THAT IS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING AT AND DISCUSSING AND WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. WE DIDN'T PUT SOMETHING UP AND THEN BE TOLD WE NEEDED TO TAKE IT DOWN BECAUSE WE DIDN'T FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE GUIDELINES. ANYHOW, I CAN ASSURE YOU WE KEEP EVERYTHING LOOKING NICE AND WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT THAT LOOKS NICE AND IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. WE JUST NEED A PLACE WHEN THE KIDS COME IN . THE BASKETBALL DAYS ARE OVER AND NOW THEY ARE ALL DRIVING. SO, THAT WAS OUR DEAL. WHEN THAT HAPPENED WE THOUGHT WE WOULD TRY TO GET PERMISSION TO GET A

I DIDN'T WANT TO LANDSCAPE IT BECAUSE IT WOULD GET INTO THE VIEW OF THEM. IF WE STAY OFF OF THAT THAT GIVES THEM A BIGGER LOOKING FRONT YARD FOR THEIR PROPERTY.
