AND I THINK I'VE EXPLAINED BEFORE SOME OF THAT IS THE BUSINESS CONTRACTS THAT THEY HAVE AND WHETHER BUSINESS IS FLYING ACTIVELY IN DURING THAT MONTH OR WHATEVER, MAY HAVE MORE ACTIVITY THAN THE OTHER. SO WE GOT THAT DETERMINATION ON FRIDAY, THURSDAY OR FRIDAY, AND KUDOS TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES STAFF WITH THE CITY OF ABILENE, PARTICULARLY JAMES MCFARLAND, WHO IS USED TO WORKING WITH HUD ON THESE TYPES OF THINGS AND PUT US IN THE POSITION TO KIND OF FAST TRACK THAT. MET WITH STAFF A COUPLE WEEKS -- MAYBE THREE OR FOUR WEEKS AGO, TALKED ABOUT SOME CHANGES. SO WE'VE ALWAYS HAD A VISION OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT GOING IN AT HIGHWAY 36 AND THE NEW ROAD AND THE FM 18 INTERSECTION. AND WHILE WE FULLY EXPECT THAT THEY'LL PUT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THERE, I THINK IT'S WISE TO GO AHEAD AND EXPEDITE THAT IF WE HAVE THE MONEY IN THE BUDGET TO GO AHEAD AND DO THAT OURSELVES. SO I ASKED THEM TO GO BACK AND ADD THAT INTO THE SCOPE OF WORK, THE DESIGN FOR THE TURN LANES AND THE TRAFFIC LIGHT ITSELF AND TO THIS SCOPE OF WORK. I'D ALSO ASKED FOR SOME HELP WITH DESIGN ON THE SIGNAGE ON AIRPORT -- ON THIS NEW ACCESS ROAD. ONE IN PARTICULAR BEING, YOU KNOW, WE KIND OF ENVISION THIS BECOMING THE NEW ENTRANCE, MAIN ENTRANCE, TO THE AIRPORT. WHILE AIRPORT BOULEVARD WILL NOT CLOSE AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH HIGHWAY 36, I THINK THIS NEW INTERSECTION BEING CLOSER TO TOWN WILL BECOME THE NEW FAVORITE, BASICALLY. SO

WE DO WANT TO HAVE THAT SIGN. WE WANT TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT SAYS YOU ARE ENTERING ABILENE REGIONAL AIRPORT AND THEN KIND OF SET THE TONE FOR MONUMENTAL SIGNS THAT GIVE DIRECTION TO DIFFERENT TENANTS AS THAT AREA DEVELOPS. AND SO ADDED THAT TO THE SCOPE OF WORK AS WELL. SO THEY PROVIDED ME WITH A PRICE FOR THAT AMENDMENT. AND THAT IS AN ADDITIONAL $122,300 TO THE $210,000. SO TO MAKE A TOTAL OF $332,300 FOR A NEW -- FOR AN AMENDED CONTRACT. THAT'S STILL LESS THAN 5% OF THE TOTAL EXPECTED COST OF THIS PROJECT. SO VERY WELL WITHIN NORMAL RANGES FOR DESIGN. ACTUALLY MUCH BELOW THE TYPICAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FEES THAT WE SEE ON OUR OTHER PROJECTS. SO I'VE REVIEWED THIS AND DISCUSSED IT A LITTLE BIT AND I'M SATISFIED THAT THIS IS A VERY GOOD PRICE. AND SO THEY DO HAVE TO SEND SOME OF THIS DESIGN WORK FOR THE SIGNS IN PARTICULAR OUT, BUT I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THIS AND I'M ASKING FOR YOUR APPROVAL SO THAT I CAN BRING THIS RECOMMENDATION TO -- YOUR RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL.>> QUESTIONS FOR DON.
